the double live album dark magus was recorded on march 30, 1974, at carnegie hall in new york city. dark magus was released after davis’ 1975 retirement. after releasing the live recordings agharta (1975) and pangaea (1976), dark magus was originally only released in japan.

in june 2013, above & beyond performed some of their best-loved songs acoustically with a 12-piece band, across three sold out shows at londons legendary porchester hall. the response from fans was overwhelming and led to two sold-out nights at the greek theater in los angeles in october, described by billboard magazine as one of the finest and more memorable shows in dance music history.
